Hosta ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use the Hosta - Property Manager mobile application and the Hosta web dashboard.
When you provide an iCal URL from external rental platforms (such as Airbnb, Booking.com, or VRBO):
You may remove iCal integrations at any time within the app.
Certain preferences (such as selected currency and interface settings) are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted to our servers.
If you register via a partner referral link, we may collect and store a referral code associated with your account. This information is used solely to attribute referrals for our partner program and is never shared with third parties or used for advertising purposes.
To understand how Hosta is used and to find and fix problems, we collect usage analytics, including screens visited, actions taken within the app, device type, operating system version, approximate region derived from your IP address, and session recordings of your interaction with the app interface. This data is associated with your account so that we can reproduce and resolve issues you report.
Session recordings capture your use of the Hosta interface only. They do not capture other apps, your keyboard input in password fields, or anything outside Hosta.
If you choose to receive marketing emails, we store your choice, the date and time it was made, and where it was made (for example, the app settings screen). We also store a random unsubscribe token that lets you unsubscribe from an email link without signing in. This record exists so that we can prove your consent was freely given and honour your withdrawal of it.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with advertising networks or use it to target you with ads on other websites or apps.
If you opt in, we use the email address associated with your Hosta account to send you occasional emails about new Hosta features, hosting tips, and related offers.
Legal basis. We send these emails solely on the basis of your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a); express consent under Canada's CASL). Consent is switched off by default. It is never a condition of creating an account, subscribing, or using any part of Hosta, and declining has no effect on the service you receive.
How to opt in. In the iOS app: Menu → Notifications → Email → Product updates. In the web dashboard: Settings → Email. We may also offer you the option once inside the app.
How to withdraw. You can withdraw your consent at any time, without giving a reason, by switching the same setting off or by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any marketing email. Unsubscribing takes effect immediately. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before it.
Service emails. Separately from marketing, we may email you messages required to operate the service, such as account confirmation, password resets, subscription receipts, and critical alerts (for example, a failing calendar sync). These are not marketing and are not affected by the setting above.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
Supabase - We use Supabase as our secure cloud infrastructure provider for data storage and authentication. Supabase processes data on our behalf under strict security controls.
PostHog - We use PostHog for product analytics and session recordings, as described in section 6. PostHog processes this data on our behalf as our processor and does not use it for its own purposes.
Resend - If you have opted in to marketing emails, we share your email address with Resend, Inc. (United States) solely to deliver those emails. Resend acts as our processor and does not use your address for any other purpose.
Apple - We share necessary information with Apple for app distribution through the App Store and for processing in-app subscription payments.
Where these providers process data outside the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the transfer is covered by Standard Contractual Clauses.
We retain your data for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, all associated data, including your marketing preference and its consent record, will be permanently deleted within 30 days.
Hosta is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When changes are made, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this document.
